Can I create a plotly object from a plotly json string?

Is there something like plotly_build, but in reverse: feed it json, get back plotly object.

How can I accomplish this?

I've been trying to do this as well....roughly following advice from the later posts in #590

I have something that is close but with some graphical hiccups. First:

myjson = jsonlite::fromJSON("/path/to/json.json")
json_str = jsonlite::toJSON(myjson)
plot_list <- plotly:::from_JSON(json_str)

At this point doing the following produces an empty plot and an error respectively:

# these make an empty plot
plotly::as_widget(plot_list)
plotly::plotly_build(plot_list)

# throws error
plotly::as_widget(plot_list$x)
plotly::plotly_build(plot_list$x)
> Error: Expected a closure

Finally, this produces a plot, but with duplicated legend entries (fine in the original plot).

kp_attrs = c('attrs', 'layout', 'data', 'config', 'highlight')
plotly::as_widget(plot_list$x[kp_attrs])
