Currently, making collaborative beatmaps (Collabs) is quite tedious. Mappers have to manually share .osu files back and forth, export/import beatmap packages, or use external tools to merge diffs. This creates unnecessary overhead and slows down the creative workflow when working together.
Describe the solution i'd/we like:
A real-time multiplayer beatmap editor inside osu!(lazer).
Host a mapping session/room directly from the client.
Allow multiple users to join and edit the same beatmap simultaneously (seeing each other's live cursors, object placements, timing adjustments, and SV changes in real time).
Permission controls (e.g., Host-only timing settings, guest mappers locked to specific timeline sections/combos).
Describing alternatives i've considered:
Manual file swapping via Discord/Mediafire or using custom external git-like merging scripts, which are error-prone and disrupt the mapping flow.
Additional context:
Live editing would be huge for the mapping community, stream events, mapping workshops, and rapid prototyping for gimmick/meme maps or serious collab sets.
