What do I need to do to use ANS?
On the 5th of May ANS will be enabled. Everyone needs to update their daemon to a minimum required version of 0.2.5.8. If you are running a lower version by 5th of May you will end up on your own fork and any coins you send out will be gone.
Currently Sapphire already ships with this minimum required version. If you are using Lynx make sure to update the daemon.
Please note that only Sapphire will allow you to use ANS related features. The same applies to the services of messaging and file storage when they are released.
So, for ANS all you need to do is update the daemon. However, the new daemon also requires you to resync to benefit from drastically faster startup times. The new daemon will not work with an older chain. Please follow the guide below to make sure the daemon runs on your machine.
If you never installed Lynx or Sapphire on your computer, or if you do not have the folder mentioned below for the operating system you use, please disregard this and simply install Sapphire and run it.
On Windows:
C:\Users\<USER>\AppData\Roaming\eccoin
If you can't find the folder AppData please type this in the search explorer or windows search bar: %appdata%\eccoin
If you don't get any results that means you can skip this guide, and install and run Sapphire.
On Linux:
home/<USER>/.eccoin
On Mac
~/Library/Application Support/eccoin
If you do have this folder, delete everything inside the eccoin folder except your wallet.dat and launch Sapphire.
Note: if you encounter an error deleting the files from the eccoin folder please make sure to stop the daemon first.
