I’m sharing the final exam’s last question in advance. Please think about it while you study.

There is a fun word game called Piphilology. It involves writing a poem where each word’s length corresponds to each digit of the constant π. For example, if you’re given 3.14, you write a poem using [3 letters, 1 letter, 4 letters] in order. For instance: “Now I know” or (Korean example: “그래서 늰 안되는겨”).

• In the last problem of the final exam, you will be given n digits of π after the decimal point and a tense/theme from what we covered in class. (2 < n < 15)
• The tense/theme will be randomly chosen from the concepts we learned in the course.
• Korean students must write in Korean; non-Korean students must write in English.
• Like in an art competition, the answer will be evaluated by aesthetics, creativity, and relevance.
• Since I am releasing the question early and the exam is open-book, points will be large but grading will be strict.

Isn’t good poetry itself a form of abstract interpretation?
Distilling and distilling a long story until only its essence remains. A process of leaving behind only the words that absolutely must be there. If we were to compress everything we discussed over the semester again and again without end, what would remain at the very end?
