열린 튜링 강연회 (Open Turing Lecture Series)

학과에서 공지한 바와 같이, 다음 주에 우리 학교에서 열린 튜링 강연회가 열립니다. 이 강연회는 당해, 그리고 역대 튜링상 업적을 쉽게 풀어 해설하는 강연입니다. 한 달전 발표된 2025 튜링상은 양자 컴퓨팅 분야의 연구자들이 수상을 했지요. 이번 강연회에서는 이 업적 이외에도 그래픽스, 프로그래밍언어 분야의 과거 수상업적을 다룹니다. 특히, 우리 수업과 연관이 있는 2005년 프로그래밍언어 분야의 수상업적도 다루니 많은 참석 바랍니다. 참고로 수상하신 Peter Naur는 프로그래밍언어 분야의 석학으로서, 수업에서 흔히 보는 BNF 형식이라는 이름의 N에 해당하는 분입니다. 역사를 통해 미래를 비추어보는 시간 되길 바랍니다.

As announced by the department, the Turing Lecture Series will be held at our university next week. This lecture series aims to provide accessible explanations of both this year’s and past Turing Award achievements.

The 2025 Turing Award, announced just a month ago, was awarded to researchers in the field of quantum computing. In addition to this achievement, the lecture series will also cover past award-winning work in graphics and programming languages. In particular, I encourage many of you to attend because the series will discuss the 2005 Turing Award in programming languages, which is closely related to our course.

For reference, Peter Naur, one of the award recipients, was a leading scholar in programming languages and is the “N” in the BNF notation frequently encountered in our class. I hope this will be a valuable opportunity to reflect on the future through the lens of history.
