This post holds Protean's near-term direction. For the exact issues in flight, follow the release milestone linked below.
Now: 0.18, target release date: 01-OCT-2026
Primary directives:
The building experience.
protean newbecomes a compiler front-end rather than a template stamp. It generates a project that actually runs and passes a newprotean verify(init, check, and tests in one command), with a typed diagnostic contract so an error points at the fix, and an Event Model view of your domain rendered from the framework's own intermediate representation.A verified, operable core. The transaction, dispatch, and checkpoint paths that changed in 0.17 get differential and mutation testing. A first slice of durability lands (event-store verify and checkpoint-consistent recovery), together with single-deployment operability (dead-letter parity, graceful drain, and lag you can actually alert on). An Applicability Charter states plainly when not to use Protean.
