Adding here though it's very minor. Basically this error comes up for me. Seems to happen somewhere around the index checking.

I also had this problem once. Have you updated all of the pouchdb-plugins/adapters to the newest version?

I did, and removed a couple just to test. With only:

• pouchdb-replication @ 6.3.4
• pouchdb-adapter-http @ 6.3.4
• pouchdb-adapter-idb @ 6.3.4

Still get it, seem to come from the this.pouch.createIndex call. I used debugger since stack trace there was horrible there and see it comes from here:

What's odd it it seems it's not calling db.type() that's the problem, it's saying that the fact that db.type is a function at all is the problem. So the error message here is pretty confusing. Oh well. Will update if I find it.

I found out that the problem comes from the idb-adapter.
One interesting thing is, when I wait a few ms after the creation of a collection and the usage, this warning does not occur.

        await  db.collection(colData);
        await new Promise(res => setTimeout(res, 100));
        console.log('waited');
       // > no warning

I added a workarround for this.
The best way is to use pouchdb.info() and wait for it's callback. After that we know that everything is useable.

Try this out by awaiting the info-promise before you use the collection.

const col = await myDB.collection(/* .. */);
await col.pouch.info();
// now use the collection

RxDB does not use db.type() nor the pouchdb-plugins should. This must be fixed directly in the idb-adapter.

By the way I attempted the patch await col.pouch.info(), and I actually just get more warnings funny enough.

yes. I found out that it does not help to await .info() after the collection is created. The commit does this after pouch-creation but before the instance is used.
