NEW IN 1.0.36 BETA

• File > Share... opens a small window: JPG or PNG, a quality slider (JPG) or compression slider (PNG), a size (original, or longest side 1920, 1280 or 1080 px) and "Flatten onto white". It then opens Android's share sheet. The share symbol is in the menu.

• Quick Adjust is now a window, under Image > Adjustments: six sliders (Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue, Lightness, Vibrance) with a live preview, OK and Cancel.

• Back on for testing: Image > Upscale..., Image > Batch Process... and Layer > Style Presets.

• Polygon selection works with a finger (tap or drag to put down each point, marching ants, drop a point on the first one to close it), with Undo Point, Close and Cancel in Tool Options. Added in 1.0.35.

• Narrower menus: the empty column for keyboard shortcuts is gone from menus. Shorter menu names: ShowDrag, Benefits..., Direction...

• Toolbox and panels: no minimum widths (the toolbox keeps one column), an invisible grab strip beside each side's panels for resizing, and the toolbox keeps the number of columns you choose, also in portrait.

• The panel layout is saved when you leave the app, so a panel you close stays closed.

• Canvas Only mode has a black X in the top right corner to leave it.

• Your own icons are bigger on the Preferences and File > New lists.

• Removed from menus: Where is...?, the Krita Handbook, Layout Presets, Save and Reset Layout, Share as JPG and PNG.

• File > Take Photo... is in this build for testing. It opens the camera and then shows an error; it no longer crashes.

KNOWN ISSUES (found in testing)

• Panels do not go into tabs when dragged on top of each other.
• Take Photo shows an error after the photo is taken.
• The icons on the File > New and Preferences lists are still small, and the New list is too narrow.
• Brushes opens at launch the first time. Close it once, then leave the app, and it should stay closed.
• Floating windows have small buttons and a teal title bar.
• A long file name still widens the Window menu.
• The Healing Brush message window is very wide.
• A very large brush can make a stroke do nothing, and the brush tool sometimes stops working.
• The Smudge tool acts like a plain brush.
• The default text size is small, and the text box has very large handles.
• The crop tool's corner boxes are large.
• The Photo Edit toolbar has two crop buttons (the Crop tool and Apply Crop).
• The Type Options toolbar is empty when the Type tool is not in use.
• A menu occasionally gets stuck.

NEW IN 1.0.35 BETA

• Your own icons for the pages of Edit > Preferences and for the sections of File > New.

• Polygon selection for a finger: tap or drag to put down each point, with marching ants on the line, and drop a point on the first one to close the selection. Undo Point, Close and Cancel buttons are in Tool Options.

• Image > Upscale...: 2, 3 or 4 times larger, with the resize method of your choice (Lanczos3 is the default) and an optional light sharpen layer.

• Image > Batch Process...: resize or convert many pictures at once, with presets, a progress bar and a Cancel button. Results go to Pictures/Krimble/Batch.

• Quick Adjust (Window menu): six sliders (Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue, Lightness, Vibrance) that work through adjustment layers.

• Layer > Style Presets, and Window > Save Layout as Startup / Reset Layout.

• View > Rotation Gadget: the rotation dial in the bottom bar can be turned on and off. It is off by default.

• File > New: the Custom Document page starts with the size of a picture you copied (this can be turned off in Edit > Preferences > General > Pasting).

• Layers panel: the six buttons are in two rows of three.

• Toolbox: it is only as tall as its tools, and it is no longer pushed back off the bottom of the screen.

• Windows: any window wider than the screen is narrowed (label above field), and the PNG export options window has a narrow layout.

• Image windows: a wider frame, so they are easier to grab and resize.

KNOWN ISSUES (found in testing)

• File > Take Photo... crashes the app after the photo is taken. Do not use it.
• Canvas Only mode has no way out on a phone: the menu bar and the toolbox are hidden. Close and reopen the app to leave it.
• The Window menu can lock up (it will not close).
• Menus are far wider than they need to be.
• The edge handle for resizing the side panels cannot be seen.
• In portrait, the toolbox goes back to one column and the right panels will not resize.
• New Document: the section icons (Animation, Comic, Design, DSLR, Texture) are smaller than the first two.
• Preferences icons are small.
• Brushes opens by default.
• Pasting a picture into a new document sometimes shows nothing on the page.
• Help > Where is...? is unreliable.

NEW IN 1.0.34 BETA

• Quick Adjust (Window menu): a small panel with six sliders: Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Hue, Lightness and Vibrance. It works without changing your pixels: each group adds an adjustment layer you can hide, delete or edit later. It opens floating so it never has to fit beside the other panels.

• Batch Process (File menu): pick a preset, pick pictures, and every one is resized or converted. Presets: HD 1080p (longest side 1920 px), Social (1080 px), Messages (1280 px), Thumbnail (256 px), Convert to JPG, Convert to PNG. Results go to Pictures/Krimble/Batch. Your originals are not changed.

• Style Presets (Layer menu): one tap puts a ready-made layer style on the active layer: Drop Shadow, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Stroke (white or black), Bevel and Emboss, or Clear Style.

• Startup layouts (Window menu): Save Layout as Startup remembers how your panels, toolbars and toolbox are arranged, separately for portrait and landscape, and brings it back at start and when you turn the phone. Reset Layout returns to the original.

• Toolbox: starts floating the first time, smaller edge handle, color wells right under the tools.

• Brushes panel: hidden the first time the app runs (Window > Panels brings it back).

• Layers panel: the buttons under the list are smaller, so the panel can be narrower.

• Toolbars: seven extra toolbars (hidden until you turn them on in Window > Toolbars) and Close All Toolbars.

• Menus: no keyboard shortcut column.

• New Document: the window height follows the page; the size list is wider.

• Preferences: colored page icons.

• Dialogs: the resize grip sits below the buttons instead of on top of them.

• Removed: Cheat Sheet and Mirror Layout (both caused problems in 1.0.33).

KNOWN ISSUES

• Menus are still wider than they need to be.

• The toolbox can have empty space inside it, or its last rows cut off, when floating.

• The toolbox edge handle is still too large.

• New Document is wider than the screen in portrait.

• Preferences and Brightness/Contrast are wider than the screen in portrait.

• A docked toolbox does not change its width in portrait.

• Quick Adjust, Batch Process, Style Presets and Startup Layouts are new and have had very little testing. Please report anything odd.

NEW IN 1.0.33 BETA

• Share: File > Share as JPG or Share as PNG opens Android's share sheet (messages, email, social apps, cloud storage). The picture is also saved in Pictures/Krimble.

• Help menu: Where is...? (search every menu and open the entry), Send Feedback (a prefilled GitHub issue), and QA Overlay (live window and panel sizes for screenshots).

• Window menu: Hide All Panels, Layout Presets (Quick Edit, Retouch, Illustration, Design, Focus), a Tabs / Floating Windows switch, and Show Contents While Dragging. Floating windows are the default.

• Toolbars: stacked one per row, Reset Toolbars, and ten new toolbars (History, Selection, Layers, View, Retouch, Photo Edit, Transform, Quick Adjust, Save and Export, Filters), all hidden until you turn them on in Window > Toolbars.

• Toolbox: two columns by default, the Columns choice works floating or docked, one continuous block of tools, light grip lines on its drag bar, and the color wells sit right under the tools.

• Panel edges: a thin invisible strip with a small touch handle in the middle.

• New Document: 13 new size presets (social media, phone wallpaper, album cover, business card, postcard), colored section icons, a thinner left list.

• Dodge and Burn: now a slow, cumulative lighten and darken.

• Type tool: the keyboard comes back when you tap text to edit it again.

• Dialogs: two-finger drag to move any dialog, a corner grip to resize, Save As fits the screen, long text wraps.

• Menus: no keyboard shortcut column (a touch screen has no keyboard), clear 1 pixel dividers, real X, minimize and maximize buttons on windows.

• Layers panel: icons are a little smaller so the panel can be narrower.

• New icon and splash, and a larger brush icon.

KNOWN ISSUES

• Cheat Sheet (Help menu) crashes when you pick a line. Avoid it. It is removed in the next build.

• Mirror Layout (Window menu) corrupts the display. Avoid it. It is removed in the next build.

• Some windows (Preferences, Brightness/Contrast, the JPEG export window) are wider than the screen in portrait.

• Custom toolbars are rough: a toolbar can get stuck vertical, and its tools don't arrange into columns.

• After a screen rotation the Window menu can stay open.

• Image windows: floating windows are the default again. The first item in the Window menu switches between Tabs and Windows in one tap. A second switch, Show Contents While Dragging, shows the picture while you move a window.

• Toolbox: the foreground and background color wells and the screen mode button now sit right under the last tool and scroll with the tools.

• Toolbox: the drag bar at the top shows light grip lines, so it's clear it can be grabbed.

• Toolbox: the floating toolbox lost its empty margin, stripe and dots on the right and bottom edges.

• Toolbox: after a screen rotation or a layout restore, the toolbox goes back to the number of columns you chose.

• The strips between the toolbox, canvas and panels keep their original look, with a wider area to grab.

• Save As and the format picker now fit the screen.

• New splash image. The version shown on launch matches the release.

KNOWN ISSUES

• The app may restart when you switch away from it and come back.

• Custom toolbars are rough. A toolbar can get stuck vertical, and its tools don't arrange themselves into columns.

NEW IN 1.0.31 BETA

• Dock menu: long-press a panel's title bar, or the toolbox, to dock it left, right, top or bottom, or to undock it. No dragging needed.
• Toolbox: starts at 2 columns, and rotating the screen no longer changes the column count. Drag it wider than 4 columns if you like. The foreground and background color wells grow with it. The tools are one continuous block, with no groups.
• Easier to grab: the strips between the toolbox, canvas and panels are wider on touch screens.
• Drag the strip beside the right panels all the way to the screen edge to shut them. Window > Show Right Panels brings them back.
• Window menu: panel controls, toolbars, themes, styles and language are all there, and the View menu is lighter. Interface Scale... sits next to Zoom.
• Menus: clearer dividers, and no keyboard shortcut text, since there is no keyboard.
• New splash image. The version shown on launch now matches the release.

KNOWN ISSUES

• In portrait, the toolbox can fall back to one column and is harder to resize. Landscape is fine.
• In portrait, the Save As window can be bigger than the screen. A two-finger drag moves it.
• The app may restart when you switch away from it and come back.

WHAT'S NEW IN 1.0.30 BETA

• New app icon: a larger K with the paw print.
• New Document dialog now fits the screen and scrolls, so Create and Cancel are always reachable. Entry boxes are narrower.
• Toolbox: rotating the screen no longer switches it from 1 column to 2.
• Toolbox: a new Columns choice (1 to 4) in its long-press menu.
• Preferences: a narrower left list, with the section titles wrapped under their icons.
• Targets Android API 36, as Google Play now requires.
• Package size is about 158 MB, same as 1.0.29.
