No .gitignore leads to empty pth file #1961

I am using uv with workspace setup and I have one member that contains an extra .gitignore file and the other one does not have a .gitignore file (only root .gitignore).
Because of the missing .gitignore the project without the .gitignore has an empty .pth file during development.
Just creating an empty .gitignore in member resolves this problem. However, I am sure that others using hatch might run into this weird issue and spent hours debugging....
Let me know if more information is required.
