How do I setup wheel "build tag" in this format {distribution}-{version}(-{build tag})?-{python tag}-{abi tag}-{platform tag}.whl

Hatch claims that it supports tags for PEP 425 (Compatibility Tags for Built Distributions). However, I am unable to set the build tag in the .whl name. I am able to set the python_tag, abi_tag, and platform_tag, but setting the build tag is not possible.

I have also stumbled upon this where I would like to set the optional build tag information according to PEP427. I looked around and could not a find clear answer.

According to https://peps.python.org/pep-0427/#file-name-convention the following is acceptable output filepath:

{distribution}-{version}(-{build tag})?-{python tag}-{abi tag}-{platform tag}.whl

There have been similar questions, e.g #689 but this revolves around updating {python tag}-{abi tag}-{platform tag} (a.k.a tag) but it is not possible to update the optional part (-{build tag})? using a hook since it only accepts the following format (which seems to follow PEP425):

# it is expecting 2 x '-' separators
build_data['tag'] = '{python tag}-{abi tag}-{platform tag}'

If I try something like this:

build_data['tag'] = '1-py3-none-any'

It will generate a build error:
