Status of Sphinx

Hi, a few of us heavy Sphinx users are worried about the lack of activity over the last 5 months. @jdillard did some archaeology and saw that Adam (not pinging here out of courtesy in case they've got bigger stuff to worry about) has joined your meetings in the past. I haven't had as much time recently due to various real-life circumstances, but fear not that previous Sphinx releases continue to work, and I'm not dead (yet!).

Adam, I appreciate you are busy, but let's not close this yet. A private email exchange with you doesn't seem like a good way to alleviate the community's concerns. We can try to find other Sphinx people, it certainly doesn't have to be all on your shoulders.

My concerns are taken care of. I wasn't too worried about things picking back up, but it was nice to have some light shown on the situation. Thanks to everyone involved!

Written confirmation of project status helps me a lot, thanks. As mentioned elsewhere, we depend heavily on Sphinx and it wouldn't be hard for me to get manager buy-in to help out in upstream Sphinx more. Will start triaging issues per Adam's request but happy to do more. There are quite a few Google projects depending on Sphinx so I may also be able to rally support from other teams, too.

I have to admit to being a bit confused. The only information we've gotten is that triaging is appreciated and "previous releases continue to work." Are there enough people working on Sphinx to get issues resolved and new versions shipped?

Also note that the Python docs are stuck at Sphinx 8.2.3, the newer releases broke some translations so we had to revert.
