RabbitMQ AMQP 1.0 client Version 2.0

Hi all,

We are currently building version 2.0 of this client.

V2 is being built from scratch. The primary reason for this rewrite is to remove the dependency on the qpid-proton C library present in version 1, providing a fully native Python client.

This client is inspired by the Java and .NET AMQP 1.0 clients, aiming to deliver the same behaviour and user experience across ecosystems.

You can follow our progress on the v2 branch.

🚨 Important:

• We will not be implementing new features in version 1.0.
• Version 2.0 is not compatible with 1.0
• We aim to release the first 2.0.0 stable in November 2026

Hey @Gsantomaggio, you might take a look at all the work @alonfaraj and I have been doing on Pika for the 1.5.0 release. He's very familiar with the modern tooling for Python and has implemented a LOT of great type checking, linting and other tools on the codebase.

I've got v2 running in a local debug/monitor situation occasionally and it works fine AFAICT. I'm unable to provide any more testing beyond that.
