Improve date field names on package page #31

@countvajhula

Description

@countvajhula

The date fields on a package page are:

Last updated
Last checked
Last edited
Date added

It's not clear whether these are dates pertaining to the package or the repo. And "last edited" and "last updated" are essentially synonyms.

These would be helped by any of, or a combination of:

  • Having categories under which these fields appear. E.g. "Package history" or "Source repository status"
  • Longer unambiguous field names, e.g. "Source repo last checked" and "Page last edited"

I'll document my interpretation of these fields here for anyone who is confused, along with suggested field names assuming my interpretations are correct:

Date added - when the package was added to the index
-> Maybe: Date package was added

Last updated - when the code in the repo was last updated. Although, the date doesn't quite match the repo, so I think this must be when the package code was rebuilt from the source repo
-> Maybe: Built on

Last edited - when the package metadata was last modified
-> Maybe: Package metadata last edited

Last checked - when the source repo was last checked for updates
-> Maybe: Source repository last checked
