Mods that no longer work after a Windows update

Hi !

“Taskbar Height and Icon Size” and “Taskbar Clock Customization” no longer work after the “2026-06 Preview Update (KB5095093) (26200.8737)” update...

I restarted windhawk-symbol-helper.exe, disabled the mods, and then launched the usual target executables... :

• C:\Windows\SystemApps\MicrosoftWindows.Client.Core_cw5n1h2txyewy\Taskbar.View.dll

• C:\Windows\System32\Taskbar.dll

and re-enabled the mods, but nothing changed...
Why do I lose my active mods with every update...?
How can I fix this without having to go through this hassle every time there’s an update?

Look at the logs. You probably also need to run windhawk-symbol-helper.exe for SystemTray.dll.

Windhawk downloads the symbols automatically. If it doesn't work for you, perhaps you're using a firewall.

Please attach debug logs by following the instructions on the Troubleshooting page:

• Disable the mod.
• Go to the mod's Advanced tab.
• Set Debug logging to Detailed debug logs.
• Click on Show log output.
• Enable the mod.
• Verify that the mod doesn't work, copy the log and save it to a file.
• Set Debug logging back to None.

The error is ERROR_INTERNET_CANNOT_CONNECT. Are you using a firewall?

In case of a firewall, you can open cmd manually and run the following command, then disable and re-enable the mod:

I use Safing Portmaster free... But I don't know how authorize Windhawk ?

The target process downloads the symbols. In this case, it's explorer.exe. You can allow it temporary just to download symbols after each Windows update.

Probably. Whatever is blocking it on your system. Normally it just works.

I reset the Windows Firewall to its default settings, and after restarting, everything is working... curl.exe was indeed blocked as well. Thanks!
