Roseboard 1.5.8

Choose a tag to compare

@ranKirito ranKirito released this 27 Sep 10:15

Zooming and panning large boards is much smoother.

  • Zooming out and overview panning: below 50% zoom, cards coming into view first appear as a lightweight sketch (same size, status, title, description text and checklist count) and become full cards a few per frame once the camera rests. Nothing changes at 50% and above.
  • Connector labels no longer force a layout as they come into view, and are hidden below 50%, where they are unreadable.
  • Lighter idle cards: resize handles and the floating description/checklist buttons appear when the pointer or keyboard focus reaches a card, or it is selected. Edges can still be grabbed from just outside the card. Touch screens keep them visible.
  • Fewer repeated measurements and paint layers: unchanged cards reuse their measured heights, and connection dots, icons and faded edges no longer add per-card compositing work.

This release also includes the unpublished 1.5.6 (faster large-board rendering, ink culling, faster card placement) and 1.5.7 (overview zoom-in stutter fix) changes.

On a 1,000-task benchmark board, the slowest 5% of frames when zooming out dropped from about 84 ms to 34 ms, overview panning's median frame from about 59 ms to 25 ms, and opening the board from about 2.3 s to 1.35 s. Fast panning across a very large overview is improved but still exceeds 60 fps frame times.

Validation: 110 automated checks and 63 desktop Obsidian scenarios passed with no captured renderer errors. Private copies of two existing boards kept identical card heights at 100% and 33%, with board bytes unchanged. Release files match the tested build. Physical trackpads, mobile devices and peer-device sync were not tested.

Task descriptions now stay visible when zooming out, with a fixed preview that never scrolls. Choose Show more to expand the complete description and Show less to collapse it. Cards grow as needed without changing saved dimensions.

Checklists now start collapsed, with progress visible in their header. Opening one and zooming preserves that choice.

This release includes the 1.5.4 fix for the black-board crash caused by repeated checklist layout updates.

Validation: 100 automated checks and 38 actual desktop Obsidian scenarios passed with no captured renderer errors. An existing 14-node board was also tested privately with its Things theme: all 12 descriptions remained visible at 100% and 32% zoom, and board bytes were unchanged. The release files match the tested build. Physical mobile devices and peer-device sync were not retested.

Roseboard 1.5.4

@ranKirito ranKirito released this 24 Sep 16:17

Fixes a crash that could leave Roseboard completely black on existing boards with wrapped checklists.

  • Removed the repeated layout updates caused by the checklist's Show more control changing its own overflow condition.
  • Reserved scrollbar space so text wrapping remains stable while cards fit their content.
  • Preserves the readable description area, wrapping checklist editors, and saved board data.

Verified with the reported existing board, in its existing vault with theme and plugins active, plus 100 automated tests and 38 isolated desktop Obsidian scenarios. All 768 protected Markdown files remained unchanged during the live check. No new renderer errors were captured.

Update through Obsidian's Community plugins settings. This patch supersedes 1.5.3.

@ranKirito ranKirito released this 24 Sep 15:47

Task descriptions and checklists stay readable on small cards.

  • Descriptions reserve useful space and scroll without fading out.
  • Cards grow to a readable minimum and cannot be resized enough to hide their content.
  • Checklists reserve three wrapped rows, with Show more for longer lists and Add step always available below the list.
  • Long checklist editors wrap and grow with their text and card width.
  • Keyboard navigation and Delete/Backspace inside card content no longer move or delete the selected card.

Verified with 100 automated tests and 37 isolated desktop Obsidian scenarios, with no captured renderer errors. Packaged JavaScript and CSS match the tested build. No storage format changes.

Update through Obsidian's Community plugins settings. For manual installation, the ZIP contains the plugin files; the individual release assets support Obsidian's updater.

Roseboard 1.5.2

@ranKirito ranKirito released this 24 Sep 15:14

Roseboard 1.5.2 lets task cards keep the size you give them.

  • Resize smaller again. Task cards no longer grow to fit everything or refuse to shrink. Drag any edge to the size you want.
  • Description always visible. It fills the room the card has, from one to six lines, and fades when cut off. Empty cards offer Add a description….
  • Collapsible, scrolling checklist. A header shows progress and folds the list away. An open list always shows at least one step and scrolls inside the card. Show more makes room for ten steps without changing the card's saved size, and Show less returns to it. A bigger card simply shows more steps.

No change to how boards are stored. Verified with 100 automated checks and 60 isolated desktop Obsidian scenarios; mobile hardware and peer-device sync remain unverified.

Roseboard 1.5.1

@ranKirito ranKirito released this 24 Sep 14:43

Roseboard 1.5.1 lets you write a task's description and checklist right on its canvas card.

  • Write on the card. Hover a task card for Add description and Add checklist in its top-right corner. Press Enter to keep adding steps, double-click a step or the description to edit it, and hover a step to remove it. Each save is one undoable edit.
  • Easier to read. Descriptions (Markdown, three lines on the card) and steps use larger text with bigger checkboxes, and line up with the task title.
  • Aligned completion circles. The circle next to a task's title now centres on its first line in Canvas, Kanban, Day and List.
  • On the canvas, the inspector no longer repeats the description and checklist, and clicking inside a card's description or checklist no longer opens it. Other views still edit them in the inspector.

No change to how boards are stored. Verified with 100 automated checks and 60 isolated desktop Obsidian scenarios; mobile hardware and peer-device sync remain unverified.

For manual installation, extract roseboard-1.5.1.zip into your vault's plugin folder and enable Roseboard. Back up an existing installation before replacing it.

Roseboard 1.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@ranKirito ranKirito released this 23 Sep 19:34

Roseboard 1.5.0 brings a redesigned Day page with routines, easier resizing, and checklists you can see on the canvas.

  • Day, redesigned. A week strip, a Tasks card for the day, and Routines kept separate from one-off tasks. Routines repeat on the weekdays you choose, are ticked off per day, and keep a streak. Drag tasks between the day, the Unscheduled tray and any day of the week; Move all to today handles overdue work.
  • Resize from any edge. Hover a card's edge or corner and drag, with no selection needed. The dots in the middle of each edge still start connections.
  • Checklists on cards. Task cards list their steps with checkboxes you can tick on the canvas. Cards grow to fit their content; the size you set stays the minimum and is never rewritten.
  • Tasks from anywhere land on the canvas. Tasks added in Day, Calendar or Kanban get a card in the first free spot, without covering or moving other cards.
  • Documents on their cards. The separate Documents view is gone: read and edit notes directly on their canvas cards, with Edit available right away.
  • Polish. The selection bar no longer hides under the zoom controls on narrow panes, its colour swatches are visible again, List columns line up, inspector checklist fields wrap and grow, and hovering empty space no longer shows stray tooltips.

Boards gain an optional routines field only when you add a routine. Schema version stays 1, and 1.4.1 preserves the field untouched.

Verified with 100 automated checks and 60 isolated desktop Obsidian scenarios. Mobile hardware and peer-device sync remain unverified.

Choose a tag to compare

@ranKirito ranKirito released this 21 Sep 15:34

Roseboard 1.4.1 keeps the compact canvas toolbar, expandable document cards, in-card Markdown editing, daily tasks and calendar from 1.4.0, and fixes Community Directory compatibility checks.

  • Uses workspace activation supported by the declared minimum Obsidian version and the Obsidian CSS helper for inspector sizing.
  • Removes script-element and script-resource creation from the bundled renderer with a public, deterministic build transform.
  • Passed 91 automated checks and 55 isolated desktop Obsidian scenarios, including blocked script loading with no network requests. Mobile hardware and peer-device sync remain unverified.

For manual installation, extract roseboard-1.4.1.zip into your vault's plugin folder and enable Roseboard. Back up an existing installation before replacing it. This is the sole supported downloadable version; development continues on main.
