This happed to me for for the second time while my windows machine was waking up from sleep mode. It seems like it does not get triggered every time.

From the error at least to me it seems like an easy fix but I dont have time to look into it in the moment.
If its not trivial for you to fix I can look into it later this week.

Looks it's a wgpu error, I will take a look on their source code

I looked into it a little bit.

The line from the crash log is:

        let gl = &self.shared.context.lock();

Its a bit hard to follow where exactly the unwrap happens.

In the mean time I switched to different backend probably it going to solve the issue. Maybe I should forward the issue to the wgpu maintainers it will probably be more obvious to them. Unless you already have.

Does it happen on main now? (updated wgpu deps)

Im having hard time reproducing it. I try to have GL instance running all the time in the background but it happened only 2-3 times since I reported the issues and I was not able to get a full stacktrace. I just pulled the main branch and will leave it running in the background.

I will report back if it happens again

Its been 3 with days no crash, Lets assume its fixed.

Today it happened 2 times. Im pretty sure it happens only in release mode. Not sure if this gives you any clues

This ended up a lot more complicated then I expected. It could be a hardware issue, or bug in windows.
If anyone else also experiences this issue just change the backend.
