Physical disks temp is empty "-".
I have SMART monitoring turned on for my PVE node.
I can see Type | FS | Health | SSD Life parameters, only temp is empty.
When I inspect SMART of these disks in PVE GUI i can easly find their temperatures, f.e.:

ID:194 | Atribute:Temperature_Celcius | Value:49

Temperature for my PVE node works fine.

Physical disk temperatures showing as blank is the expected result right now because Pulse only renders NVMe temperatures that arrive through the sensor proxy. SATA and SAS drives that expose attribute 194 do not feed into that path so the UI prints the placeholder.

The backend only assigns PhysicalDisk.Temperature inside mergeNVMeTempsIntoDisks in internal/monitoring/monitor.go and that helper copies NVMe data from the node temperature payload. Nothing currently reads SMART temperature attributes for other bus types.

Proxmox exposes SMART temperature via /nodes//disks/smart. That endpoint shells out to smartctl once per disk. Each call takes roughly one to three seconds and pulls idle spindles out of standby. Running that inside the five minute monitoring loop across every node would balloon poll times and thrash disks.

The long term fix is to extend the existing sensor proxy so it runs smartctl locally on each node, batches the readings, and streams the results back with a rate the node can tolerate. That keeps the work where device access already lives and avoids expanding the API polling footprint.

Until that proxy enhancement ships Pulse continues to track SMART health status and wearout for every disk while only NVMe devices show temperature values.

SMART temperatures are now collected by the sensor proxy wrapper added in 36b96e573. The new pulse-sensor-wrapper.sh runs sensors -j plus smartctl -n standby,after, caches the SMART output for thirty minutes, and ships both datasets back through the existing RPC without waking sleeping disks unnecessarily.

The backend merges those readings into the disks table by matching WWN, then serial, then device path, so SATA and SAS drives now show temperatures alongside NVMe devices. Existing installs that only provide sensor data keep working.

This will land in the next release. You can test it immediately by pulling the latest container image and re-running scripts/install-sensor-proxy.sh on your Proxmox hosts to deploy the updated wrapper.
