Can't create new project with 0.61

The installation command from the Readme file doesn't work:

$ npx react-native init RN61ts --template react-native-template-typescript

This doesn't give an error but it creates a folder called template with, for example, the App.tsx file:

$ npx react-native init RN61ts --template typescript

Maybe it's related that the template hasn't been upgraded to 0.61?

FYI the main RN documentation website says to use the react-native global cli.

It looks like you're using the old version of the CLI. Have you uninstalled the globally installed react-native-cli first?

The documentation on the RN website seems to be outdated as the react-native-cli package is considered legacy: https://github.com/react-native-community/cli#about

I created a PR with further info. This should hopefully resolve a lot of confusion as soon as it gets merged.

Thanks for the note.
I didn't know that if you run npx react-native it would use the globally (legacy) installed package...

Now it works with 0.65

@radko93 I just ran the npx react-native init MyProjectName --template react-native-template-typescript.

In App.tsx, on line 38, global is undefined in global.HermesInternal expression.

On hover over the error, I get the following error :

Cannot find name 'global'.ts(2304).

What can I do to remove this error ?

try this one for react-native .61
this solved my problem
npm install -g react-native-cli
npm install @react-native-community/cli
after that you will notice on the WARN sign the it is required to install react@16.9.0 so you need to install it.
npm install react @16.9.0
trouble shoot it if there's an error.(expect it that there will be an error)
npx react-native init MyApp
we tried to see if it would work, if not then we need to uninstall the react-native
npm uninstall react-native
npx react-native init MyApp

Hope it would work for all of you.
