Why does the listener from linking subscribe has a different behavior than linkTo?

The listener and linkTo behaves differently in following scenario:
Listener:

1. Open a modal screen A
2. open another modal screen B
3. Call Linking.openURL with a deeplink which triggers the linking subscribe listener transform this deeplink into a link from the linkingConfig and open this link with the listener
4. modal B gets closed automatically (why?)
5. close modal A via pan down gesture
6. deeplink screen gets opened

LinkTo:

1. Open a modal screen A
2. open another modal screen B
3. Call linkTo with a link from the linkingConfig
4. modal A & B are still open
5. deeplink screen gets opened behind the modals

Why do they behave differently?

I tried it but i had some problems to get the https://github.com/react-navigation/template running with v8. But in general should the listener from subscribe work the same as linkTo?

Theoretically, they should behave the same
