Syncing read progress in Readest to BookOrbit

I have a BookOrbit server which I have added an an OPDS serve in Readest so I can grab books from there I want to read on my phone (I don't like the BookOrbit built in reader).

But doing this doesn't update my reading place or completion back in BookBorbit - once I have downloaded it to Readest its basically out of the BookOrbit system.

Is there a way to sync those up?

We might need to sync the progress and status directly to BookOrbit. Currently there is no explicit way to do it. Could you create an issue ticket for this?

Readest does support koreader sync. I haven’t yet had any luck getting it to connect, but it’s there. Readest complains that the URL copied from the Plugin server URL section in the Bookorbit koreader settings is not actually a KO reader sync endpoint.

First of all, you need to create your KOReader credentials from BookOrbit Setting Pages.
Once you have them, within your Readest app you need to configure KOReader Integration.
For the Server URL you need to use https://YOUR_BOOK_ORBIT_DOMAIN//api/v1/koreader

With that you will be able to sync the progress of your readings.

BTW, Would be great to be able to sync highlight, Bookmark, annotations and so on, but I didn't find the way to do it yet.

Reading the documentation it looks like BookOrbit already provide it, but they way it details to do it is by "installing a plugin within the KOreader device", but I don't have a KOReader device, I use my Android Phone with Readest App.

I am a bit confusing about how it works.
I can see "similar docs" on the Readest docs, where it details a similar plugin that needs to be installed on the KOREader device.

TBH, I am not familiar with KOReader Sync process, so I can't give you more details, but if you want me to test any idea you have, I can do

The documentation indicates that highlight, bookmark sync between BookOrbit and KOReader is possible. So it's also possible to sync between BookOrbit and Readest with the same sync API, but it needs development in Readest to support it. Please open a feature request for this in https://github.com/readest/readest/issues. And we can support it in upcoming updates.

I've configured my KOReader credentials in my BookOrbit instance
The BookOrbit UI states that, for the KOReader plugin, you should use http://localhost:port without any endpoint.
However, if you scroll down a bit, you'll find a Setup Guide that says the sync server should be configured as:
http://localhost:port/api/v1/koreader

The sync server without any endpoint is the correct one :)

(!!! BTW Usernames are case-sensitive in BookOrbit, which I find a bit overkill.)
