Scope
Five targeted tweaks:
1. Replace --accent color: light orange → vivid brown
This is the most important change. The current --accent: #DAAA63 (rgb(218, 170, 99)) is a light orange/gold. Replace it globally with a vivid brown.
In src/app/globals.css:
/* BEFORE */
--accent: #DAAA63;
--accent-dim: #C4944F;
/* AFTER */
--accent: #8B4513; /* saddle brown — vivid, warm, readable */
--accent-dim: #6B3410; /* darker shade for hover/dim states */
This single change will fix the color across all 92 occurrences in 29 files that reference text-accent, bg-accent, border-accent, etc. No need to edit individual components.
Also remove --accent-title (added by #410) since --accent itself is now the vivid brown — it's redundant. Update any text-[var(--accent-title)] references to just use text-accent.
File: src/app/globals.css, and scan for any accent-title references to clean up
2. Realistic book spine/hinge on left side
The current left spine is a flat colored band. Replace it with a more realistic book hinge effect — like a hardcover book where you can see the transition from spine to cover with a subtle inset/groove. See the reference image for the look: a visible vertical groove/indent where the spine meets the front cover.
Current (StoryCard.tsx ~line 38):
<div className="absolute inset-y-0 left-0 w-3 rounded-l-sm"
style={{ background: "linear-gradient(to right, #A6926F, #C4A87A, #B89E72)" }}
/>
Target: A dark spine using the new --accent brown or #2C1810 with a visible vertical groove/hinge line where spine meets cover. The hinge should feel like a real hardcover binding — a narrow indent or shadow line at the spine-cover junction.
File: src/components/StoryCard.tsx
3. Restore original headline text
T3 changed the homepage headline during the redesign. Restore the original copy exactly:
Headline (h1): Your story is a token.
Tagline: Every plot you publish drives the market — and every trade pays you. Write more, earn more.
File: src/app/page.tsx
4. Paper texture on book covers + story content area
Apply a CSS-only paper/parchment texture to two surfaces:
- Book cover background on StoryCard (home page)
- Story content area on detail page (currently plain white)
CSS paper texture recipe (from CodePen reference):
.paper-texture {
background-color: #fffef0;

box-shadow: 0 0 40px #8f5922 inset;
}
Important:
- Do NOT apply the SVG feTurbulence filter (uneven edges)
- Do NOT apply the conic-gradient fold effect
- Keep the inset shadow subtle (40px or less)
- The
background-color: #fffef0 is a slightly warm white — good for paper feel
Apply to:
StoryCard.tsx — the front cover div (currently bg-gradient-to-br from-[#F7F0E5] via-[#F2E8D6] to-[#EBE0CE])
- Story detail page content area (
src/app/story/[storylineId]/page.tsx)
Files: src/components/StoryCard.tsx, src/app/story/[storylineId]/page.tsx, src/app/globals.css
5. Verify: no remaining light orange/gold color anywhere
After changing --accent, do a final scan for any hard-coded light orange values:
#DAAA63 or rgb(218, 170, 99) — should be zero occurrences
#C4944F — should be zero (replaced by new --accent-dim)
- Any inline
style with orange-ish colors on text
This is a verification step, not a separate change.
