Subtitles no longer working on multiple aniyomi extensions

Steps to reproduce

Start an anime on a aniyomi extension with subtitles that aren't hard coded

Expected behavior

Expect the subtitles to be visible

Actual behavior

Nothing shows up on screen, you can select the subtitle in the source screen, some even have different languages but nothing shows up on even when they're selected.

I thought it was an issue with the repo and went to kohi discord to report it but got told that for some reason the subtitles on several aniyomi extensions were no longer working in aniyomi, so the fix they used to make it work in aniyomi (and yes its currently working in aniyomi) somehow broke the subtitles in dantotsu and cloudstream, most likely other app using aniyomi extensions as well.

Im not sure if this is a issue with how cloudstream is displaying it or if its related to the aniyomi compat, but i thought I'd start here.

If you need details about the changes they made to fix it in aniyomi i suggest asking the devs in kohi discord

As this is a extension issue there is nothing we can do on our end as far as I know. So I will close this issue here, and I hope you have better luck in CranberrySoup/AniyomiCompatExtension#46 However I believe that https://github.com/CranberrySoup/AniyomiCompat/ is the real repository for this extension.

(Sorry for the reply being a bit lengthy..)

@fire-light42 since it seems to effect all extensions with external subtitles and first stopped working on only aniyomi and after their fix only worked on aniyomi i was thinking it's something with how cloudstream and dantotsu is displaying the subtitles. Because the subs are still available in the sources screen, so if a show has english and lets say chinese subs we can still see them and pick one of them, but theyre just not showing up on the screen. Same if you try to download the subtitle through cloudstream, you get the file with its proper filename but the file is empty.

Could you guys at least take a look at it and see if there's something you can do?
Because from the extension side it seems like this was the only way to get it working again on aniyomi so its very unlikely they'll change it again.
And for the compat, i agree that its possible that its on the compat side, even very likely, but getting in contact with that guy through the github is impossible. Ive had issues on both repos before from early 2024 and never got a reply, same for the other issues on them.

Do you know if he's on the discord or maybe someone knows how to get in touch with him and pass this issue along to him?
