In the story mode you can be Ryo Sakazaki or Robert Garcia. They are both friends and rivals at the same time. Ryo goes into the dangerous south town to find his kidnapped sister, Robert goes with him. That happens in 1980 when Ryo and Robert are students of Kyokugen Karate Dojo. Ryo's father is the creator of the Kyokugen karate and Robert is the black sheep of a millonaire family.
When you have chosen Ryo or Robert to go find Yuri (Ryo's sister), you first fight against Todoh. He is a student of Kyokugen Karate Dojo like Ryo, but they don't get along well so Ryo begin his search of his sister with Todo. When he is defeated, Ryo fights versus Jack, a high rank of Mr. Big. After that, Ryo goes to China town to see if Lee(Master on martial arts and medicine) knows something about Yuri. Then, he goes to the restaurant L'amor. There, he finds King, a women that wants to cover her gender to avoid any type of discrimination and be able to enter Mr. Big's mafia. She tells him that his sister is in the military establishment. Going there, he's surprised by micky an exboxer in search of oponents to vent his wrath and frustation. Micky takes him to the port and Ryo fights with John, known as killer machine, a strong guy who was captain at marina. After finish him, John told him where is Mr. Big and finally it seems he will get back his sister but, he was wrong... A strong opponent was waiting him in the karate gym. His aspect and movility was like Ryo. After defeating him, his sister appeared and told Ryo to stop because his opponent was...
We can interpretate that his opponent was his father.
There are 8 levels in the videogame. To mesure the difficulty of each, we did a table with some factors that we considered, those were:
- Comboc (x/10)
- Fast (x/10)
- Damage (x/10)
- Aero Movements (x/10)
- Ground Movements (x/10)
- Times I died
- Psicological consequences
- Learning Curve
The first level is to test how it's the videogame. If it's your first time you could lose a few battles, but if you know the basic controls it won't be difficult. You can defeat this enemy with one movement, jump + kick.
Puntuation:
- Combo (3)
- Fast (2)
- Damage (5)
- Aero Movements (2)
- Ground Movements (3)
- Times I died (0)
No psicological consequences and you don't really learn so many things.
The second level it's so difficult in compare with the first one. This one has alot of damage and fast atacks. You learn alot in this level and the frustration could start.
Puntuation:
- Combo (5)
- Fast (6)
- Damage (8)
- Aero Movements (6)
- Ground Movements (7)
- Times I died (7)
- Frustration
The third level it's easy if you move faster that your opponent. He has a low damage so it won't suppose an extra difficulty. In our opinion, this level makes you be prepared for the next one.
Puntuation:
- Combo (8)
- Fast (8)
- Damage (4)
- Aero Movements (5)
- Ground Movements (7)
- Times I died (1)
The fourth level it's so complicated, because your rival is much faster than the previous one and she has alot of damage. Here i became frustrated, much more than the second level. Her combos were the most difficult.
Puntuation:
- Combo (8)
- Fast (10)
- Damage (4)
- Aero Movements (5)
- Ground Movements (7)
- Times I died (1)
- Frustration
- Learn curve increasing
The fifth level it's the easier one. Why? It's probably because the frustation in the level four was high and the player needs to feel he's good. The enemy doesn't jump and his combos are bad. The difficulty here was low.
Puntuation:
- Combo (4)
- Fast (1)
- Damage (6)
- Aero Movements (0)
- Ground Movements (6)
- Times I died (0)
The sixth level stand out by his aero movement. It's not as complicate as it seems because the enemy repeats alot his movements. He has alot of damage and combos. It's hard to defeat him if you don't know range habilities.
Puntuation:
- Combo (7)
- Fast (6)
- Damage (8)
- Aero Movements (7)
- Ground Movements (4)
- Times I died (0)
The seventh level is the most difficult one. He seems the final boss, but he isn't. Even so, he has an amazing damage and fast movements. It's complicate to hurt him by air and even you block his atacks he will hurt you alot. It seems Mr. Big is programmed to dodge and atack with a low time reaction.
- Combo (6)
- Fast (8)
- Damage (10)
- Aero Movements (3)
- Ground Movements (9)
- Times I died (23)
- Frustration
- Learn curve increasing alot
The last level isn't as difficult as the previous one. The "final boss" was Mr. Big and this one is just for make the history much more interesting. He has the same habilities than Ryo.
- Combo (7)
- Fast (5)
- Damage (9)
- Aero Movements (8)
- Ground Movements (8)
- Times I died (5)
Let's calculate the difficulty with a graphic. To mix all the data together and make it having sense we will make a table and in the first column we will put all the puntuation added. In the second column we will put the frustration that that level produces.

If we make a graphic we will see this.

In my opinion, i think the graphic make sense because it shows exactly where I had difficulties considering the skill of the opponent and the frustration i had.
Along the videogame you find bonus levels that can give you power ups.

You can choose one of these options in wich each option will give you a different power up.
First of all we have the bottle cut. You have to stop the movement of the bar when is closer to "MAX".

If you cut the four bottles, you will get extra Spirit (the energy you use to do habilities).
Then, the second option is about pressing alot of times the button "A".
If you break all the ice, you Health will increase.
Finally, the third option is about making the hability "Haoh Shokoh Ken" 6 times.

If you can do the hability 6 times, you will get the exclusive hability "Super Death Blow".

These are the 5 different sections in which we are going to structure our research and analysis of the videogame.
