claude-code is a Windows app for working with Claude in a simple, local setup. It gives you a direct way to open the app, connect it to your account or API setup, and use it for everyday tasks like writing, editing, and code help.
This project is a fork of instructkr/claude-code. It keeps the same core idea and presents it in a way that is easier to set up and use on a Windows PC.
- Open a simple interface for Claude-based tasks
- Use it for text work, code help, and quick prompts
- Keep your workflow in one place
- Run it on Windows without a complex setup
- Use it as a daily tool for personal work
Use a Windows PC with:
- Windows 10 or Windows 11
- A stable internet connection
- Enough free disk space for the app and its files
- Permission to install or run programs on your computer
For best results, use a recent Windows update and keep your browser current if the app opens web pages during setup.
Open the main download page here:

Follow these steps:
- Visit the link above.
- Look for the latest release or the main download files.
- Download the Windows version if one is listed.
- If the file is a .exe, double-click it to run the app.
- If the file is a .zip, extract it first, then open the app inside the folder.
- If Windows shows a security prompt, choose the option to keep or run the file only if you trust the source.
If the page shows more than one file, choose the one made for Windows. A file name that includes win, windows, or .exe is usually the right one.

- Enter any required API key or account details.
- Choose the folder or project you want to work with.
- Check the app settings for theme, font size, or start-up options.

claude-code may ask for a few details before it can work:
- A Claude account sign-in
- An API key
- A local config file
- A folder path for your work
If you use an API key, store it in the app settings or the config file the app creates. Keep it private and do not share it with others.
Once the app opens, you can use it like this:
- Type a prompt or request in the input box.
- Ask for writing help, code help, or task help.
- Review the output on screen.
- Copy the result into your document, app, or project folder.
- Save your work as needed.
Common uses include:
- Drafting notes
- Cleaning up text
- Making code edits
- Asking for quick explanations
- Organizing small tasks
- Check that the download finished
- Run the file again
- Right-click the app and choose Run as administrator
- Restart Windows and try once more
- Look for the file in your Downloads folder
- Right-click the file and check its properties
- If Windows marks it as blocked, allow it only if you trust the source
- Recheck your account name and key
- Make sure there are no extra spaces
- Confirm that your internet connection works
- Try copying the key again from your account page
- Close the app and open it again
- Check whether your internet connection is stable
- Confirm that the app has the right account or API settings
- Restart the computer if needed
