I have a jsonata customManager in a shared preset used across multiple repositories. In one repo, I need to adjust the matched depName.

I asked DeepWiki about it, too and it suggested this is a bug in the jsonata custommanager:

The root cause is a fundamental mismatch in confirmIfDepUpdated in lib/workers/repository/update/branch/auto-replace.ts.

Here's what happens step by step:

The jsonata manager extracts a dep with, say, depName = "original-name".
packageRules.overrideDepName is applied, so upgrade.depName becomes "overridden-name".
When Renovate tries to write the branch update, it calls confirmIfDepUpdated to verify the file was updated correctly.
Inside confirmIfDepUpdated, it re-extracts the package file using extractPackageFile — but this raw re-extraction does not apply packageRules, so the freshly extracted dep still has depName = "original-name".
The check then compares upgrade.depName ("overridden-name") against newUpgrade.depName ("original-name") — they don't match, so it logs 'depName mismatch' and returns false, causing "Error updating branch". auto-replace.ts:63-77

The packageRules override is applied to the upgrade config before branch processing, but the re-extraction inside confirmIfDepUpdated is a raw extraction that bypasses packageRules entirely.
