Sorry, I'm REALLY new to NixOS and stuck.

How do I install new software? Just asking because the nixos config file got changed to the hydenix file I cloned from the git repo and theres no section that specifys software and it has loads of comments obviously, don't know if theres a place other than that where I should be adding stuff for new software ect. Sorry again, I'm very new to NixOS and the approach that Nix takes to package managment.
