I’d like to work on this because improving test structure has a long-term payoff that’s often underestimated. Hardcoded test data makes tests brittle, repetitive, and harder to maintain—especially as the codebase grows. Introducing reusable fixtures and factories helps standardize test setup, reduces duplication, and makes tests easier to read and extend. It’s the kind of cleanup that quietly improves developer velocity and confidence in the system.

This task is also interesting because it’s not just refactoring—it’s about designing a flexible testing pattern. Deciding what belongs in simple fixtures vs. factories for more complex objects, and making sure they’re easy to compose across different test cases, requires some thoughtful structure. Done well, it can significantly simplify writing new tests and updating existing ones.

In terms of relevant experience, I’ve worked on:

Refactoring test suites to use centralized fixtures and factory patterns
Designing test utilities that balance simplicity (static fixtures) with flexibility (dynamic factories)
