Help make the first release useful

The most valuable early contributions connect a real business task to a clear, testable outcome. PHP Ledger needs owner/bookkeeper feedback, accounting review, interface testing, installation experience and focused technical work.

Ways to contribute

Area A useful contribution
Accounting Original worked examples, explicit entity/framework scope, source references and reconciled expected results.
Product and design A concrete task, where it became difficult, and a proposed improvement tested with representative users.
Development Small changes within the shared PHP/MeekroDB architecture, preserving central posting and server permissions.
Quality and documentation Reproducible issues, clear installation notes and recoverable error-path checks.
Regional/industry research Sourced account-template requirements and coherent synthetic scenarios, with assumptions clearly marked.

Use synthetic records in public issues and examples. Do not include private customer data or credentials. Preserve third-party notices and contribute original material or material whose reuse terms permit it.

The public repository contains modern source under www/phpledger, with the historical application retained only in Git history. Follow the development guide, and use Issues to discuss a bounded proposal. See the 1.0.0 release; independent review and supported-pilot review remain open post-release commitments.

New project-owned code and documentation use the AGPL-3.0-or-later. Preserve the separate scope and notices for historical code, dependencies and assets. Pre-adoption releases retain their original grants; this release does not relicense legacy contributions or company marks. New contributions require the individual/entity CLA.

Support direction

The intended model is open-source software and modules, with paid installation assistance, training, troubleshooting and support on customer-owned hosting. Services will describe the work, supported environments, response expectations and exclusions before a commitment is made. Pricing, lifetime support and unlimited customization are not promised here.

Supporting partners: BixiTech, BixiSoft, BrownBag and Agency75. These are project-support identities, not customer testimonials or accounting certifications.

Supporting development

Funding will focus on one achievable milestone at a time, including design/usability work, development tools, infrastructure, accounting review, security and documentation. Receiving jurisdiction, platform eligibility and the costed campaign must be verified before money is collected. No donation campaign or payment commitment is active through this Wiki.
