BetterCmdTab 26.5
Highlights
BetterCmdTab 26.5 makes the switcher fit your setup: pick which display it opens on, collapse it to one row per app, and move around with Vim keys.
Added
- Choose which display the switcher opens on — a new "Show switcher on" picker lets you pin the switcher to a specific display instead of always following the focused window.
- Applications-only mode — show one row per app, like the classic ⌘Tab, instead of one row per window.
- Vim-style navigation — opt in to use
h/j/k/lto move the selection while the switcher is open. - "Show application names" toggle — hide or show app names from Appearance settings.
Changed
- Hiding app names and/or window titles now reclaims the empty label space and tightens the tiles in the Grid and Previews layouts, so nothing is left dangling.
- The switcher opens a touch faster — app icons are warmed ahead of time so the first frame is snappier.
- Settings-import error messages are now translated (German, Spanish, French, Polish).
Fixed
- Window management now places windows on the correct display on multi-monitor setups.
- Clearing the ⌘Tab or ⌘` shortcut now fully disables that trigger, with no leftover "stuck modifier".
- Recently-closed apps, web apps (PWAs), and blank-titled windows now fall back to the app's name instead of showing an empty row.
- "Show application names" is now findable from settings search.
