I reran the investigation on the v1 branch as requested (tested at origin/v1 commit 9de11ed). On Node 20, both targeted tests pass there as well (Emits validation events and Calls XML file validation plugins), and timing remained comparable/slightly faster than Node 16/18 in this environment. Current PR branch head: 6a09d87.
