how to type numbers numerically #11

Thanks for trying it, and glad it's running on Ubuntu Studio. You're not missing a setting. TuxTalk types whatever the speech model hands back, and Parakeet (the default model) likes to write small numbers as words. I tested it just now: "twenty five chickens" came out as words, but "$150", "555-1234" and "2025" came out as digits. So it depends on the number. For now, try switching models. Open Preferences, then General, and set Model to Small. Whisper writes numbers as digits most of the time, though it's not perfect either. It wrote "one hundred and fifty dollars" out in words in the same test. I'm going to add a setting that turns spoken numbers into digits no matter which model you're on. I'll post here when it's in a release. |

Took a little longer than I said, but it's in 0.15.1, which came out yesterday. Open Preferences, go to Advanced, and under Text Formatting tick "Write numbers as digits", then Apply. That's it. Saying "I have twenty five chickens, meet me at seven thirty on october fifteenth" now types "25 chickens", "7:30" and "15th". It works on Parakeet too, so you can switch back to it if you moved to Small for the numbers. There's also a choice there to keep one to nine spelled out, the way a lot of writing guides want it, so "three cats" stays words but 25 doesn't. Things like "one of them" and "two thirds" are left alone either way. To update, use Check for Updates in the tray menu, or grab it from the releases page. Let me know how it does for you. |
Uh oh!

I got this working on my Ubuntu Studio machine, but I'm having an issue. I want to type numbers numerically, but it keeps typing out the words. I'm I missing a setting or commander I should use?
