Would you use a Flatpak version of TuxTalk?

A Flatpak build of TuxTalk is working on my machine, and I'm trying to figure out how much it's worth putting into it. Your vote helps decide that.

TuxTalk already comes as an AppImage, .deb and .rpm, and it's on the AUR. This is only about whether a Flatpak is worth adding too.

Update, October 2026: thanks to everyone who voted. For now the Flatpak is on hold, since the AppImage already runs on the immutable distros a Flatpak would mostly be for. If you'd really use one, vote or leave a comment here. If enough people ask, I'll pick it back up.

The build script already spits out a single .flatpak bundle, so I could throw
one on the next release without much work. Problem is a bundle doesn't update.
You install it and then you're reinstalling by hand every time I push a version,
which is the thing a remote would actually fix.

Size is where I get stuck on Pages. Every release piles more objects into the
ostree repo and they don't go away on their own, and Pages wants you under a
gig, with nothing over 100MB in the repo at all. TalkType pulls in ctranslate2,
onnxruntime, numpy, the whole ML stack. I'd have to build it and look at the
real number before I'd trust it. And if I end up pruning and force pushing to
stay under, that breaks whoever's mid update.

So probably bundle on the next release first. It's free and it'll tell me how
many people actually want this. Then Flathub, the manifest is already sitting in
the repo ready to go and they'd be doing the hosting instead of me. Pages stays
in my back pocket if Flathub falls through.

Heads up for anyone else reading this, the Flatpak needs the GlobalShortcuts
portal, so GNOME 45+ or KDE Plasma 6. XFCE, Cinnamon and MATE don't have it and
the hotkey won't register. Those stay on the AppImage or the deb, rpm, AUR
package.

Have you run one off Pages yourself? If the size never became a problem in
practice I'd want to know.
