EQ doesn’t get applied until audio output per-app is switched from system to a specific output device

Hey all, not sure if this issue is specific to me, but on my MacBook Pro (Tahoe 26.5.2), an EQ profile (imported ParametricEQ.txt for my headphones) will not kick in for any audio source until I manually go and switch the per-app audio output to any specific device; the EQ then remains applied even if I change it back the globe icon setting. It will then stay applied until the app/audio source is quit and reopened, then the process needs to be repeated. The EQ profile is applied to my DAC in the top section, and is the only active device for output. Could just be user error, any advice appreciated!
