workstationd는 보통 직접 조작하는 메인 CLI라기보다 VMware Workstation의 백그라운드 서비스에 가깝습니다. 실제로 자주 쓰는 명령은 VM 제어용 vmrun, 컨테이너 런타임용 vctl, 그리고 호스트 점검용 vmrest/vmware-modconfig 쪽입니다.
vmrun은 가상 머신 전원, 스냅샷, 게스트 내부 명령 실행까지 자동화할 때 가장 먼저 보는 CLI입니다.

실무적으로는 이렇게 이해하면 편합니다.
- VM 자동화가 필요하면
vmrun - Docker와 비슷한 UX로 컨테이너를 돌리고 싶으면
vctl - 다만
vctl은 내부적으로 Docker Engine이 아니라containerd + CRX VM모델을 사용합니다.
vctl system start로 container runtime을 먼저 올립니다.- 컨테이너마다 경량 VM(CRX VM)이 붙기 때문에 Docker보다 격리가 강합니다.

--publish로 host port를 바인딩하는 방식이 핵심이며, Docker의 subnet/link 같은 기능은 없습니다. --volume은 폴더의 절대 경로만 지원하고, named volume도 제한적입니다.vctl kind를 실행하면docker.exeshortcut을vctl.exe로 연결해 KIND 워크플로우를 대체할 수 있습니다.

짧게 말하면 직접 SSH 접속하는 기능은 없습니다.
vmrun의 guest 제어는 SSH가 아니라VMware Tools기반입니다.- 그래서 인증도 SSH key/host/port가 아니라
-gu,-gp로 guest 계정을 넘기는 방식입니다. - 즉
ssh user@guest를 대체하는 도구라기보다, host에서 guest 안의 프로그램이나 스크립트를 실행하는 자동화 도구에 가깝습니다.
대신 아래 흐름은 가능합니다.
