Usage

Left to right: clean, changes waiting for a reminder, error (missing folder, not a git repository, commits not pushed), snoozed, skipped. With several vaults the icon shows the most urgent one. In Settings → General you can hide it while every vault is fine, and show the number of uncommitted files next to it.
One submenu per watched vault, titled with its name and status ("Notes — 3 files uncommitted"):
- Commit & push… asks for a message (empty = your template), commits and pushes.
- Snooze for one of your snooze options, a custom number of hours, or until the next reminder time.
- Skip these changes ignores exactly this set of changes until something changes again.
- Push N commits appears when commits haven't reached the remote.
- Open vault folder, Open in Obsidian, Vault Settings….
Below the vaults: Settings… (⌘,), About, Support on Ko-fi ☕ and Quit Obsidian Vault Git Watcher.
While Settings, About or Welcome is open, the app also shows in the Dock and gets a normal menu bar (About, Settings…, Hide, Quit, Window and Help, which opens this wiki), so the window can't get lost behind other apps. It goes back to menu bar only when you close it.

A vault gets a reminder once it has uncommitted changes and has been quiet (no file changes) for its quiet period, on one of its reminder days. The dialog lists the changed files ("Modified: …", "New: …", "Deleted: …"; Hebrew and other non-ASCII names show as written) under the title " has uncommitted changes", and offers:
- Commit: commits with the message you typed (or the template) and pushes.
- Snooze: for the duration picked in the same window. A custom number of hours must be a positive number; the prompt asks again until it is.
- Skip these changes: silent until the vault changes again.
- Closing it, or leaving it for an hour, counts as dismissed: the next reminder comes at the daily reminder time.
Two vaults never show stacked dialogs: the next one appears after you answer the first.
With Remind with: a notification banner you get a banner instead of a dialog (it can't take an answer; use the menu), counted as dismissed.
A failed commit or push shows an alert that says what failed ("Couldn't commit …", "Couldn't push …") and what to do next.
The app watches each vault with FSEvents, including .git, so a commit you make in a
terminal or with another tool is picked up within seconds. Changes under a vault's ignored
paths never count. A 30-minute safety check catches anything FSEvents missed, and a check
runs after the Mac wakes.
