We are looking for a beer and/or food sponsor for the evening. If that's you, then get in touch David Parry
Call David on 0413 191 438 to be let in to the building.
We're going to be working on building stuff using DCPU-16 assembly. Check the following links for details:
- 0x10c homepage
- DCPU-16 spec
- Github announcement
- Ready-to-use, browser-based console with debugger to hack on
- Minesweeper, implemented in DCPU-16
- More resources and implementations than you can shake a stick at
Don't worry if you haven't programmed in assembler before, it's more fun and less hard than you might think!

We might be keeping this hack night a little unstructured. I'm sure there'll be a few people who've got something from Railscamp they're keen to keep hacking on. I also know there's people keen to play with Backbone, NodeJS and other fun frameworks. If we're stapped for ideas, we might take a stab at hacking things on top of the new JIRA 5 APIs.
Atlassian will provide a (non pizza) dinner and beer.

This will be similar to a mini code retreat. We'll be tackling Conway's Game of Life in pairs in 3 sessions of 45mins each.
- The intention is provide an environment for deliberate practice outside of the pressures of work (deadlines, pressure etc)
- The problem is too big to solve in 45mins, so your focus should be on writing the best possible code in the time
- A TDD/BDD approach is strongly encouraged
- At the end of the 45mins, stop working on the problem and delete the code
- We'll do a quick 5-10 min discussion of learnings, etc between sessions
- For the next session we'll swap pairs and start again
