Can't clone Gitlab project inside subgroup

You can organize GitLab groups into subgroups.
Subgroups can:

• Belong to one immediate parent group.
• Have many subgroups.
• Be nested up to 20 levels.

When cloning this project: onprem.gitlab.internal/org-group/subgroup-1/subgroup-2/project

I have this error:

failed to clone repository: remote: The project you were looking for could not be found or you don't have permission to view it.
fatal: repository 'https://onprem.gitlab.internal/org-group/subgroup-1.git/' not found

Confirmed — the URL parser assumes a host/owner/repo two-segment path, which breaks for GitLab nested subgroups. Your URL gets incorrectly split at the second segment and tries to clone org-group/subgroup-1 instead of the full path.

I'll work on a fix to support arbitrary path depth for self-hosted GitLab and similar platforms.

This has been fixed in v0.17.0, which is now available!

The issue was that the URL parser didn't handle GitLab nested subgroups (paths with 3+ segments). This is now resolved — URLs like https://gitlab.com/group/subgroup/project work correctly.

Homebrew will be updated shortly.
