Thanks. At the moment it's difficult for me to find time for this and, honestly, I'm looking for a sponsor. Not really financially, but someone that's also interested in (something like) this project. The next step for this project is to implement a JIT and improve the GC, so if someone has experience with this and would like to work with me, I would be very interested in this.

I know @indutny and @mraleph have experience and interest in writing JITs, but I don't know about their interest or availability.

I have interest in this project, but am already spread way too thin as well.

I the mean time I found a GC for Rust, which could be interesting to use as a replacement for the ad hoc GC implementation I created. As for a JIT, probably a Rust rewrite or link against asmjit would be the best approach. That seems to be a very decent implementation. In the end, integrating the JIT shouldn't be that much of a challenge. I know making it fast is going to be hell, but a one to one translation of the interpreted code path to a JITted version will already result in huge performance improvements (also because that allows you to move to stack tracing for the GC instead of all the GC handles there currently are in the code).

But, I'm afraid that's not going to be for me in a while. Work is hell and I can barely find time to solve bugs for existing projects, let alone making progress on this project. Maybe later, or someone else may pick it up.
