Rename tag to something else. Possibly 'enum'

Could you please elaborate why? I like that variants are called tags in rust.

"tag" on one hand does not enlighten much, on the other hand it could be associated with social tagging.

Other languages call it "algebraic data types" and use the keywords "data" or "type" for declaration.
Not that that helps.

I think that tag is actually a decent fit, since something like group or unite or bundle (or any synonym thereof) looks weird with the singular form, and var (for variant) has other connotations, and enum risks giving people the wrong idea.

(I actually think the best replacement would be alt, but, alas...)

On the other hand, tag is often interpreted to mean "associate with metadata", which is not a wholly unintuitive way of thinking about what is happening (of course, I could be wrong).

Not a bad choice. I've found myself explaining Haskell's ADTs as "it's like enums" several times.
