Call it visual[flow], and a look a flow
A flow is a group of nodes joined together, which is what you are making — the
old word described the output. The suite is open[flow]; this page is its
visuals half.
Also rewrites the browser section: flows now have a shelf of their own above
the nodes, marked ◈ and saying how many nodes are inside, with two verbs per
row — open it, or place it in the flow you have open. Nodes are one per row
with what they take and give on the right. ⤢ on a flow node opens it.

A place, and numbers that are not called knobs
`place` builds a point out of two numbers, which nothing could do before:
the canvas could take a point apart with `polar` and never put one back
together. Worth saying plainly that a place is the same spot for every
part of the frame, so a picture read at one comes out as a single flat
colour — which is what you want when you are after a colour and never
what you want on its own.
And the word "knob" is gone for the number a node holds on an inlet. It is
a value, on the face, and the node in *numbers* is a `value` rather than a
knob. Also fixes two stale names: `posterize` has a *steps* control, not a
*levels* one.

The chart: the chord strip
The progression, read out of the MIDI of what is playing, with the current bar
lit. Covers what it reads and what it leaves out, that drums would misspell every
chord, why a bar can show a dash, the two cases that leave it blank entirely, and
that notes are read when a clip is launched rather than continuously.

It was too small to read down the side and it was taking room the tempo and the

each section stating its own, and lists the section list under what is not there
yet rather than leaving the page describing something nobody can see.

Visuals: a look is a graph you build, and it plays itself
The page described a cascade — a look bound to a song, a stack with a base and
overlays, a four-scope override gesture. None of that is how the rig works any
more, so the page is rewritten rather than patched.
A look is a canvas of nodes with one output. Everything that feeds it is
something you dropped there: the Live set, the pictures, the effects, the
meters, the song, and other looks. The browser lists the nodes with presets
under them, an inlet you have not wired is a number you can turn on the node's
own face, and a cord pulls from either end.
It plays itself. The wheel turns through every look and colourway you have made
on musical time, so a set it has never seen still gets a show — and a song
saying otherwise is an override rather than the way you are meant to work.
New: building with nothing playing (the room's dialled conditions, and the
stand-in tracks that mean a look built on the set is not black at a desk), the
floating picture and clicking a node face to fill it, `out` being neither
addable nor deletable, and what the four shipped looks are each for.

The chart: the tempo buttons and the loop wheels
The tempo is now the middle of the page with a button either side, and the wheels
along the bottom show which bar of how many each playing track is on. Covers what
the amber "named 100" means, why wheels hold still when the transport is stopped,
and that the tempo buttons are the one thing on a phone that reaches the set.

Add The chart
The page the band reads off a phone: the playing song, its key and bpm, and its
sections with the current one lit. Covers getting it onto everyone's phones, why a
key or bpm moves from the heading down onto the sections when a song modulates or
speeds up, that nothing on a phone can reach the set, and what each state on the
top line means.

Add the visuals page, and put it in the manual
The rig has had no user-facing page at all. This is the one a person reads before
touching it: looks are the unit, a stack of them is a composition, and the order
of work is **design first, bind after** — build a library with nothing playing,
then point the set at it.
Says out loud that it does not need Ableton running, because that is the thing
most likely to be assumed and it is the reason the designer exists.

Turn the knobs on a device without leaving the grid
The device chain showed shells. Now the triangle in a device's title bar opens
it, and an open device shows its controls — which work in both directions.
The fold is worth explaining rather than just listing, because it isn't only
tidying: the app follows the controls of open devices and no others, so folding
one shut is how you stop it costing anything. A page that presented the triangle
as a view preference would leave people wondering why a long chain got heavy.
The EQ Eight is drawn the way Ableton draws it; everything else gets a plain
plate of its controls in Live's order. Said plainly, because "less pretty and
just as connected" is the useful fact, not an apology.
Seven controls on the EQ Eight are greyed out, and the page says which and why
rather than leaving them looking broken — four the LOM doesn't publish at all,
two it publishes and the app doesn't read yet.
Also lands the mouse-table rows for the group chevron, which were written when
clicking a track header stopped folding groups and started opening devices.

The device chain follows Live now
The refresh icon is gone — the strip updates on its own when you add,
remove, rename or switch off a device. Says what it does and doesn't
follow, since "what's on screen" is the rule and an open rack's chain
being watched while a folded one isn't is worth knowing rather than
discovering.
