Word Escape README

Version 2.0.0

Word Escape is an escape room based game that focuses on word input fields in order to manuever through each level to escape.

Developed by Trevor Toland and Cameron Rydwell for the 'Computer Game & Simulation Programming' 2023 NLC Topic for Future Business Leaders of America

  • A variety of increasingly complex levels that engages the player to use their knowledge to maneuver through puzzles, riddles, and quizzes that can be completed by typing words and letters
  • Fully interactive story telling, with numerous interactive pieces, objects, and environmental features that direct the player through the escape room
  • A time-based system that influences the player to act quickly and complete tasks in order to succeed in the shortest amount of time
  • Stunning, hand-made graphics that let the player feel apart of the game
  • Full Inventory System to hold session-based items to assist you throughout each level, each item catered specifically to the levels

Installation Instructions:

  1. Visit our Download Link
  2. Unzip file
  3. Launch wordescape.exe and enjoy!

How to use:

Main Menu:

1. Play

  • By clicking the play button, you will be prompted with the options between the 2 current levels of the game. Each level has its own story and puzzles.

2. Credits

  • Displays the credits page for the games developers and any additional credible sources for the creation of this game.

3. Options

  • Displays the functionality and controls for the game.

4. Quit

  • Via clicking, the game will close promptly and bring you to your desktop.

Levels:

1. Walking*

  • Players can operate and move their character by using WASD or the arrow keys on their keyboard

2. Completing Steps*

  • Players must interact via E with objects to open them. Upon opening them, they must complete the prompt given to them

3. Escape*

  • Players must complete all steps located in their TAB menu in order to escape each room. At the end of each room they will be given a method of escape (ie. key, button)

4. Pause

  • Players can pause the game by pressing ESC or P and navigate using the buttons in the menu, such as Resume, Help (which will open the premises of the game and controls), and Quit (which will prompt to Quit to Main Menu or to Desktop)
