portmaster wont let me connect with the openvpn server.

I recently installed portmaster on my recently installed Linux mint. Openvpn was running nice and cool until i put portmaster on my mint, now everything is disorganized until itotally shutdown the portmaster before my openvpn server connects. How do i make both run simultaneously
