inconsistent file listing order when searching

I just noticed the following (see screenshots)

1. Look at a directory listing in the Files tab:

2. Type p to restrict what is shown:

3. The order of the displayed files changes dramatically!!

This is really disconcerting.

It's probably best fixed by reading the source code...
