It seems the documentation needs updating but 3008 is the newest LTS release branch, and so 3006 will soon enter critical support only, and 3007 will soon become an unsupported release. https://saltproject.io/blog/2026-05-27-salt-3008-0-available/ |

If I'm reading https://docs.saltproject.io/salt/install-guide/en/latest/topics/salt-version-support-lifecycle.html correctly, 3006 LTS was guaranteed active support through yesterday's release of 3008 LTS, and then is guaranteed another year of "CVE and critical fixes support", so until May 2027. STS support can end immediately, so new security issues in 3007 may already not get patched (per that doc) -- not sure if any timeline has been announced. |

Yes 3008.x is now LTS. 3006.x has entered security maintenance only for the next year. Having said that. We plan to still provide a few more 3006.x bugfix releases as good faith to the community to allow time for upgrades to 3008. |
Uh oh!

Hi Team,
I was reviewing the Salt Project release lifecycle documentation and noticed that the current 3006.x LTS active support is scheduled to end in July 2026. Could you please clarify what the next planned LTS release will be and whether there is any tentative ETA or roadmap available for it?
I also noticed that version 3008.0 has already been released recently, so I wanted to understand whether 3008.x is expected to become the next LTS branch or if another future release is planned for LTS support.
Thanks.
