Grid numbers would help a lot with communicating location via text and static imagery
HP Bars would help communicate the idea of where an enemy's HP is without outright stating it
FFXIV TTRPG assumes a square size of 3 "yalms" (3 yards) as opposed to the traditional 5 feet. Being able to use the measuring tool for this or to just see it as a number of squares, would be really nice.
Context:
Had a bit of fun yesterday running the FFXIV TTRPG with GIMP as my VTT, simply sharing the image as I edited it. Worked out really well for a purely text based environment over Discord. This is what it looked like.
Actually producing that was a small bit of a hassle though, that Ogres looks like it solves 80% of. Having the grid numbers really helped with communicating everything with how board focused the game is. Having it be snapshots helped with keeping everyone on the same page and understanding how the current board state was achieved.
