Building the 1st version

1. Stephane coded with ruby on rails, his favorite framework.
   during the day he was coding and at night taking care of his son + reading book about bitcoin in between: implementing wallet mnemonic, sekp156k1 etc
2. Stephane implemented the 1st version with server side bitcoin key generation
3. posting on reddit and hongbao : all got moderated : the reason its too scammy.
4. Stephane looked online and there was a scam doing the same thing in 2018 BitcoinPaperWallet.com full story : https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BitcoinPaperWallet
5. Stephane understood that verifying was key so long with being open source the code, he started building with offline mode (keys generated on the browser)
6. Stephane was fighting day and night with AI because he was not familiar with stimulus (ruby on rails)
   7 Salma tested AI (chatgpt) to generate the paper wallet : pretty but lot of hallucination so she asked help to Oussama

Mt Pelerin (November 2024)

to be able to send bitcoin on a paper wallet (bill) Stephane though he had to code everything him self until he stumbled on Mt Pelerin. an integration to buy/sell bitcoin (stripe for crypto).
He implemented it with the help of the team.

The first printed paper wallet

• Iris is a girl who was staying at my mom's house. she was not familiar with Bitcoin but it was Christmas soon. so stephane decided to print the first paper hongbao wallet and top it up, it works! He give her in a rush before she went to work.

Teach the Teachers (December 2024)

For christmas, Emira was preparing 3 gifts to his son's 3 teachers.
Stephane said : we should print hongbao bitcoin for them
Emira: I dont think that they will understand but okay
Eren gave them the gift
2 days later : Teacher : thank you, its an original gift I dont understand anything but my husband is interested he is looking into it.
Stephane: yes if you have any questions let me know. there is a small QRCode for youtube documentary about satoshi. Thank you now I have Bitcoins !~!!!

Custom paper wallet (December 2024)

Stephane was invited by one of his best friend Lavanraj (sri lanka) for christmas dinner. CEO of Ikatan.
There was a secret santa $15 gift. OFC Stephane printed a first bitcoin paper wallet
Then a second one for his friend lavanraj. the paper wallet was special : an elephant in reference of sri lanka then on top of it his friend dressed like an indian king: it was the beginning of customize paper wallet and the first bitcoin of his friend.

The break

Salma and Stephane decided to take 2 months off so Stephane could level up on stimulus with offline mode and Salma on her ruby on rails skills (read books)

New Year

When it started again, Stephane took a short mission to get some money to continue the project (hongbaobtc still make 0$)
during 3 months Salma was coding alone. But something was wrong : Stephane was disapointed by the code produced by salma and the AI with cursor IDE.
After 1 month, Salma cried and told Stephane she gonna quit but want to stay friends.
Stephane excuse for his anger and told her to take a break. In the meantime Stephane was working on the code to implement the paper wallet customisation with face swapping. Stephane realized the task was not easy and told Salma to come back more as a Technical Product Owner to handle AI gen with oussama + some code. We decided to hire another developer : Mouuad who will help Stephane to work on the code.
Stephane mission finished he went full on hongbao with more experience from his client mission (show github contribution graph full green)

China Manufacture

As Stephane give bitcoin in chinese red enveloppe, he realized that something was missing : Chinese red enveloppe.
At first he though to quickly print ones for himself but realized it would be great for anyone else
Contacted many manufacture in france but no one can print it.
so he hired Linda because Stephane couldnt speak chinese

Mouaad the Rails intern

Stephane was looking for a developer but couldnt find. until Mouaad sent him a private message on linkedin.
He started working part time but it didnt workout because he had some exams and didnt have the bandwith.
Then he came back in june and working full time this summer and its working great.

BTCPay Server

We decided to accept bitcoin and lightning payment.
Mouaad setup BTC Pay Server in an hetzner server 9$ / mo. wow its the equivalent of Stripe for bitcoin.
He had to do some tweak to synchronize bitcoin blockchain. took a week

The secret sauce : the enveloppe

Salma sharing on reddit stacker news etc. People really liked the enveloppe, some even just want the enveloppe but not trust our app to generate paper wallet.
Stephane: "Oh no e-commerce business", but we have no choice lets do it
The problem is that our current website doesnt reflect that we sell the enveloppe and allow user to print Bitcoin note (paper wallet) a la "DIY"
2 weeks later : hey here is the new dashboard to create paper wallet and the new homepage
I was wrong trying to copycat apple card landing page : we are not apple, we need to build trust and we need to explain our concept.
I took advice from Solopreneur Marc lou and applied them by collecting all the reviews and feedbacks that Salma had while distributing.

The Package Delivery

Envelope were printed nice we gonna ship fast ~200$ for 24kg of envelopes shipping time 10 days.
Awesome !
It's in CDG, now waiting for customs it will arrive soon.
2 weeks later... the french customs detained the package sorry we dont have the reason
its not counterfeit, illegal or what, it's just paper enveloppes.

MoparMining : its a shame that they use MJB design, I would prefer they use their own design.
