Fail: AttributeError: module 'collections' has no attribute 'Container'

Hi, I try to start "python-pptx", but i have Error:
AttributeError: module 'collections' has no attribute 'Container'
in File "...\lib\site-packages\pptx_init_.py", line 14, in

Use Python 3.10, python-pptx (0.6.21), lxmx (4.6.3).

Please, help me.

Problem solved, i chanched python 3.10 to python 3.9. Lost half day.

But why do we think 3.10 failed? Is there a fix that python-pptx requires to support 3.10?

For my package - that relies on python-pptx - I'm quite prepared to document a restriction to only run on 3.8.x and 3.9.x - if that's the current advice.

Or am I misunderstanding the problem @Vladzrabbit ?

I expect this would be a failed install or possibly a local module named collections. There is no change to the built-in collections library I'm aware of particular to 3.10. https://docs.python.org/3/library/collections.abc.html#collections.abc.Container

I'm sure if there was it would come with a deprecation that still worked.

If someone else can repeat this error I'll take another look, but until then I'll assume it is not a broader problem.

I would expect lines 10..12 to execute without exception in Python 3.10 and therefore skip the except clause.

But like I say, if someone can reproduce this error I'll use what they discover to have a closer look.

Thanks @scanny. Looking at the Python docs this code looks like it should work on 3.10. I checked the 3.10 docs and there's no sign even of a deprecation.

(The docs got overhauled sometime between 3.8 and 3.9 - expanding with examples.)

I'm not - at least for the moment - going to flag 3.10 as problematic for python-pptx or my package that relies on it.
