Lost the formatting of the image place holder

I have created a picture placeholder in the Powerpoint slide and applied rounded corners and soft edges formatting.
When I use placeholder.insert_picture, formatting is lost and insert image is displayed in a simple rectangle shape with sharp edges.
Please suggest.

An interesting one. Is there sample XML for a successfully inserted picture - with the rounded corners?

(If it becomes easy - in Python - to add effects such as this to a picture I might well add it as a helper routine in the RunPython class in md2pptx. I don't mean to advertise the latter but think this sort of augmentation might be useful.)
