Import only works for the current cell in Groovy

Import made in one cell cannot be reused in another cell. This is not the case in Python.

Any idea ?

That was true in the old Beaker Notebook as well. I fear it is just a feature of the Groovy JSR-223 script language. If you really want to change it, I think we will need to dig a little in the Groovy JSR-223 implementation to see how the imports are handled. Worst case scenario is that we could scrape them out of cells whenever they are present, and build them up into a list internally, which is fed to every eval call before the main cell execution—although I think there may be new issues resulting from that, such as line number skew and name clashes.

I may have spoken too soon about this being a problem in the old Beaker as well: twosigma/beakerx#2695. However, I could have sworn I noticed this problem there as well. Perhaps there was a regression, or perhaps the fix was not part of the version of Beaker I was using.

Edit: They closed it because of the change to BeakerX, not because it was ever actually fixed.

IIRC, the BeakerX Groovy kernel has a @import annotation that makes the import persistent across cells. In any case, we won't do anything to change the behavior on the SJJK side.
