"Today's New" stat is very off

If you do the math, created 7d ago w/ 2,153 total installs = 308/d

So does this stat mean the install count? If so, it is too deflated every day (I noticed this for a while, almost like 6h is treated like 24h before it resets, even on the toilet earlier it said 0 or 1 instead of 300 something)

After checking, I found that there is indeed a bug in the statistics for both total installs and today's installs. The total install count seems to increase by 1 every time the userscript is requested, while today's installs only increases for unique user installs.

I'll look into this and fix it.

UV stands for a unique user installation, and PV means each installation event.

Just keep in mind that these numbers are for reference only.

Currently we don't track or expose UTM/source/origin attribution for installs, so there isn't a way in the stats UI to verify that a specific external campaign was counted. External traffic should still be counted in the aggregate install/download stats as long as users land on the script page and install from there.

This is something we can consider adding in the future.

The total installs increased from 937 to 940 but the other stat remained 90

Actually I tested, previously when user clicks https://gm.ytclassic.com which redirs to the https://scriptcat.org/scripts/code/6345/youtube-classic.user.js to direct install for better UX, it counted. Are you saying now it won't?

I just tested clicked it twice now, it increased Today's New +1

Now Today's New got a sudden boost of +10

So as you can see, Total Installs is sorely deflated now

Thanks, that matches the current implementation.

The +10 in “Today’s New” means the direct .user.js installs are still being recorded in the download UV stats. But “Total Installs” is synced through a stricter persisted aggregate counter, which currently only increments when the download is associated with a recent script detail page visit from the same IP.

So direct redirects can appear in “Today’s New” but not increase “Total Installs”. That inconsistency is on our side, and we should adjust the stats logic so direct installs are counted consistently.
